Under the high patronage of the Head of State, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, the Minister of Hydrocarbons of the Democratic Republic of Congo is launching the calls for tenders for the hydrocarbon blocks. The launch event will take place on the 28th and 29th July 2022 in Kinshasa.
"We are one of the potentially oil and gas rich countries in the world, our 3 sedimentary basins are among the largest with areas around 6000 km² for the Coastal Basin, 50,200 km² for the Western Branch of the East African Rift Basin (Tanganyika and Kivu Basins) and 800,000 km² for the Cuvette Central Basin." This is the thought of the Minister of Hydrocarbons Didier Budimbu.
The DRC contains oil resources estimated at around 22 billion barrels of oil and 66 billion barrels of methane gas in Lake Kivu, capable of placing the DRC at the forefront of major oil and gas producers in a unique operating environment.
On 28th July 2022, in Kinshasa, the DRC is launching the first phase of tenders for 30 blocks, located in the Coastal Basin, Cuvette Centrale, Tanganyika Graben, Albertine Graben and Lake Kivu.
